Mrs. Rivera's Class

We went to the library. We read If You Give a Moose a Muffin . We went to art and we made a moose. We made a  list of things that are white. We did our white book. We sang our white song. We read It Looked Like Spilt Milk .We put a little bit of paint in the middle of the paper and we folded it and squished it together and we saw what we made.

We did our Brown Book. We sang our brown song. We went to Culture. We watched Big Bird Went to Japan. We went on the bus. We went on the bus to practice so when we go on our first field trip we will know how to do it. In Math, we made a circle and we sorted buttons. We studied the color brown today in Science. We drew a picture of ourselves and we colored our skin with special crayons.

We went to PE with Mr. Wagner. We exercised. We threw balls at eachother.We did a cardio jog lap at PE. Mrs. Tejada came and talked to us about Bullies. She read a book to us. We did Science. We painted and we mixed colors. Red and yellow make orange, yellow and blue make green, and red and blue make purple. We put pink things on our pink balloon. We did our pink book. We heard a story about a girl who turned pink. It was called Pinkalicious. She turned pink because she ate too many pink things.

We did our Purple Books. We sang a silly P-P-Platypus Song. We did a "picture read" of a book Plaidypus Lost. Tomorrow we will read it. In Music, we closed our eyes in the end he played the piano and we got a sticker. We watched Fiddler on the Roof. We did Do-Re-Mi. We read a purple book, Harold and the Purple Crayon. In Math, we studied the Rhombus. Feeling silly...

We went to art. We made things and we played the Quiet Game. We made a Pig. We did Science. We studied the color Black. We worked on our Black Books. We did the Black Song. We put pictures on the Black Balloon. We read 10 Black Dots.  We got to make a picture and then put the black dots on and stuff. We sang new number songs for numbers 0,1,2 and 3.

We worked on our Green Book. We went to culture. We watched Big Bird goes to Japan. We did not watch all of it because it is a long movie. We read a book to show that blue and yellow make gree. It was called Little Blue and Little Yellow, written by Leo Lioni. In Science, we mixed colors yellow and blue in a baggie. It made green. We had a fire drill.

We worked on our orange book. We read our orange books. We went to PE. We threw balls. We plaeyed with Pattern Blocks. We read The Big Orange Splot. To make orange you mix red and yellow. In Math, we compared the length of strips of paper to see who had the longest rectangle!  The only way to wear orange is with your Longhorns up! Hook 'Em! 

We went to art. We studied the color yellow. We made an Umbrella Man because we read a story about him. We went to the library and we got to check out books. We looked at books before we checked them out. We are bringing a book home from the library today.

In Culture, we read a book about Ogres. We worked on our Red Books. We read a book about Red. In Science we talked about the color Red. We love RED!

We went to PE. Mr. Wagner helped us get our body strong. We threw balls to eachother in PE. We went to the computer lab. We colored in our book about different colors. We colored the colors in Mary Had a Little Lamb. We had to give to X's  to the things that didn't happen and color the ones that did.

We listened to a book. We had a birthday today. We ate cupcakes. We put marbles in the jar because we are good. We met Mr. Duster. He does music and plays the piano. We had a fire drill. It was a practice. We went outside. We stayed in line and waited very quietly. We had a story. We read David Goes to School. Our Birthday Boy!

We sang ABC’s and numbers from the Smart Board. We did a practice fire drill in the morning. We (also) did a tsunami warning. We practiced tsunamis. The tsunami drill was for a wave far away that might come to our building.   We had to go to the roof of building 848. We heard Little Red Riding Hood at our listening station. We finished our bumblebees.

--> We sang songs like “Do you know your alphabet?” We went to the library. The librarian read us a book to teach us how to treat the books. We ate lunch and played at the playground. We took a nap. We got to use play-doh. We made letters with the play-doh. We made Bumblebees.  (Thursday, September 16th is Open House. Join us in the classroom at 4:15 pm. Here is an invitation from the class.) (During calender time )we watched a video of some new songs instead of hearing them from the stereo. We had PE. We are getting ready for library (tomorrow) so we drew a picture under our names (these cards will become our library cards). We had lunch. We had recess. We had rest time.  We got to lay down and read books.  We sang a song about the letter F.  We glued our names with beans.  We played at centers.

We sang our "Good Morning" song. We got to make our own pictures (how we felt on the first day of school). We wrote in our book. We had a story. We had snack. We played at centers.   We were playing with toys. We had a short day!

We ate lunch and played at centers. We cleaned up our centers. We played at the playground. We did more projects. We played with blocks. We wrote. We ate snack. At math we played with bears and frogs. Now its time to go home.

We had lunch in the cafeteria. There are big dominoes in the class. We liked the part when we played here (centers). We played at the playground but the swings went too high. We took a nap and relaxed. We wrote. We read books. We made a coconut palm tree called a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Tree. We played with the frogs.

We had a great first day! Here is what we had to say... We colored! We played. We played at the playground. We named our new fish Batman. We played at centers and when it was over we cleaned up and talked about what we did today. We ate in the cafeteria.
